Raw Milk Benefits
Raw milk has been drunk by human beings for millenia. It contains vital nutrients, very delicate proteins, and carriers that transport vitamins across the gut wall into the bloodstream.
Because raw milk has very delicate proteins, shaped three-dimensionally like a tinker toy, they are subject to flattening through high heat, as is done in pasteurization.
The danger of flattening these proteins is that the body identifies these altered proteins as allergens, and as a result, can mount an immune response. A prolonged immune response can lead to a variety of problems later in life, including asthma, and allergies.
Many children with ADD/ADHD follow a casein-free diet, and their brain function improves when they removed PASTEURIZED milk proteins from their diet.
This indicates that the altered proteins in pasteurized milk not only potentially cause allergic responses, but can also affect brain function.
Often people with milk allergies are able to tolerate raw milk, due to the high amount of enzymes that are present in raw milk.
For example, unlike pasteurized milk, raw milk contains the enzyme lactase, which helps to digest lactose. Many "lactose-intolerant" people might benefit from this added enzyme found only in raw milk.
Excellent Source of Vitamin B-12
Studies of the nutrient value of raw milk versus pasteurized reveals that heating of pasteurization destroys many valuable nutrients, and enzymes, denatures proteins, and destroys vitamin A content completely.
However, one of the many
raw milk benefits
is it's ability to provide an easily assimilated source of vitamin B-12.
Vitamin B-12 is supportive to the neurological system, and the kind that is found in raw milk is more readily absorbable than other forms, and some studies indicate that it is a better form of B-12 than even meat.
Calcium found in raw milk is calming and helpful to sleep, hence the old remedy of drinking a glass of warm milk before bed. However, be careful not to heat your raw milk too much.
Isn't Raw Milk Dangerous?
In fact, raw milk is very safe. Most people who get sick from consuming bad milk are sick from PASTEURIZED milk, yet no one claims that pasteurized milk is dangerous.
It is important to find a reliable source of clean raw milk from grass-fed, organically-raised cows. See www.realmilk.com for details in your state.
